Four Oranges Glass bending the light
The ginger jar in today’s painting is the same one that appeared yesterday. You might also notice that the cloth is the same cloth that was used in the very first painting I shared with you several days ago.
This painting showcases something that always fascinates me – the way in which glass distorts the objects behind it. I’ve used that in many paintings, and continue to look for new ways to include it.
It also reveals the powerful effect of a strong beam of light in an otherwise dark setting – the next painting will show even more of that kind of dramatic lighting.
The overall mood it creates is one of powerful mystery and drama, with the illumination of the silk brocade providing passages of almost explosive energy.
